We have rescued many cats after moving to our new home. The area has a serious feral and stray cat problem that has not been properly addressed for decades, so we stepped up to do our part.
We’ve TNR’d many local strays, to the point where we’ve reduced the number of surprise kitten litters showing up on our doorstep. By working with our neighbors and a few local helpful humans, our area is now relatively stable.
As a result, we still have 19 cats in our house, with five that live entirely outdoors. All are healthy, fixed, active in all the usual cat ways that you’d expect, and none of them are adding to the population.
It’s still a lot of cats to feed and otherwise care for, but we are doing our best. Any purchases from the Space Art Store help us keep the cats fed and happy. Many of you have helped us out by contributing to the cause, or by adopting some of our cats, and we thank all of you for your support.
Since they all grew up together, even if from different litters, our cats have formed a community, an extended family. They form cross-litter bonds, and rivalries. Some are shy and protected by other cats, while others will bounce into your lap the minute you wake up. We have svelte cats that move like dancers, and others that crash and tumble without any notion of gravity or inertia. And some just keep to themselves while enjoying the sunshine in a window.
